About us

“Stand upright, speak thy thoughts, declare the truth thou hast, that all may share; Be bold, proclaim it everywhere: They only live who dare”

Since its very inception our world had been divided into small tribes or great empires, forever fighting and trying to conquer everything possible – neighbours, countries, continents, markets, resources, etc. We created many wonderful words, songs, legends, histories and doctrines to cover up our mean intentions and glorify our brutal appetite for power, but very few dared to speak about the enormous price we paid for our greed.

For the vast majority of leaders war, or the threat of it, was and still is the only way to reign and satisfy this ever-growing ambition. Hundreds of civilisations and millions of people vanished, but we believed this to be the only practical way to govern our world. Bravery on the battlefield is still considered an honour, and diplomacy is often regarded as cowardice. We kept changing our political map at the price of ruining our lives, and we cannot seem to implement any peaceful alternative.

Progress in science and technology during the last century has made life a lot better, but it has also created a problem of its own. Our appetites grew bigger and our weapons became more powerful. With the invention of the nuclear bomb we stepped into the age of self-destruction (Mutually Assured Destruction – “MAD”). Within a couple of decades we created such a stockpile of weapons that are capable of killing every living creature on earth a hundred times fold. Some “smart” politicians even called it a “deterrent” and proclaimed this as the end of future wars. Of course, the wars did not end and we kept building up our piles higher and higher. Now each of us (i.e. the whole population of this planet!) sits on the equivalent of 5 tonnes TNT (dynamite) and many of our leaders still claim it is the safest system they can deliver. The more TNT – the safer it is…

Luckily not all of us believe in “MAD”-ness. From the dawn of our history through to today there has been constellation of visionaries who nursed the ideas of a better and peaceful world – the world federation. From Socrates to Einstein there were thousands of people realising the absurdity of our divided planet. Just like them we believe that “MADness” and armaments can never guarantee the security of any nation. The more weapons we produce, the deeper we dig our grave. Every armament we make today can and will be used against us tomorrow.

The one and only cure for “MAD”-ness and imminent self-destruction of our civilization is a world federation based on total disarmament, permanent peace and neutrality. We urgently need global co-operation in order to solve these and many other cardinal problems, which are beyond the control of any sovereign nation state, however powerful it is.

Along with these vital political reasons, there is also a powerful moral and ethical component, which attracts people to the world federalist cause. As individuals, we all share a collective responsibility for preserving our common inheritance (the Earth) for future generations. Globalisation is already fact of life and more and more people are questioning the present world order, which segregates us into competing sovereign states or blocks. World federalism suggests a fair political order, which better reflects our common humanity, one in which we all share the same rights and responsibilities as world citizens.

The Peacefederalists Party is a facet of the world federalist movement well established in other parts of the world. It is aimed at uniting the efforts of groups and individuals towards parliamentary, government and NGO representation, and subsequent gradual change toward a peaceful world federation. It shall foster peace, co-operation and understanding amongst its members and the wider community. We are based in Australia but also intend to attract membership and prominence in many other countries around the globe, which will one day constitute the building blocks of the future federation.
